November 2018 Visit us at the Effluent Expo. Free entry!Talk to our experienced staff at the Effluent Expo at Mystery Creek Events Centre next week. It’s a free one-stop-shop for all your effluent solutions! The expo was first run by Waikato Regional Council in 2011, but this year it's been organised by industry and will be held over two days. Effluent management has become a much greater focus for farmers in recent years and it’s exciting to see industry recognises the value of an expo of new technology and systems available to farmers. Our staff will be on site to answer questions farmers might have about everything effluent, from permitted activities to resource consents, as well as the proposed plan change for the Waikato and Waipā rivers. Find us at site 30 inside the main pavilion. Effluent Expo In South Waikato? Chat to us.Do you live in South Waikato? We've been holding a series of drop-in days in Putaruru and there are just two left before the end of the year! Come speak to our experienced staff who can provide you with information about the proposed new rules, provide advice on starting your Farm Environment Plan, and talk to you about what funding is available. Farm Source Putaruru First CFNAs approvedWaikato Regional Council has so far approved 13 rural professionals who applied to be certified farm nutrient advisors (CFNA). The council opened for applications last month. It’s an important next step by the council as it works to implement Healthy Rivers/Wai Ora: Proposed Waikato Regional Plan Change 1. The details of certified farm nutrient advisors have been uploaded to the council’s website, as required by the plan change. You can find them here. Apply to be a CFNAApplications must be completed online using a RealMe login. Terms of Agreement for the certification of CFNAs set the criteria and manner in which professionals must conduct themselves before becoming certified. Applicants must demonstrate that they are registered as a Certified Nutrient Management Advisor (CNMA) by the Nutrient Management Advisor Certification Programme and agree to be bound by the Terms of Agreement. “We’ve set these standards so landowners can have confidence in the advice they are being provided with when developing their nitrogen reference points,” said Sonia Baker, farming services plan implementation team leader. A document to guide CFNAs in the use of Overseer for preparing nitrogen reference points has been developed. It is a living document, so may change from time to time. Pōwhiri for hearings commissionersA pōwhiri has been held for the five Healthy Rivers/Wai Ora hearings panel commissioners ahead of a two day information forum this week. The forum is an informal opportunity for submitters to discuss, understand and perhaps resolve differences they may have around the economic and science modelling used in developing the proposed new rules. The forum, held 21-22 November, will not be formal expert conferencing. To read the agenda for the forum days, and to keep up to date with the latest information on the hearings, please visit our website. The hearings are expected to begin in March 2019 and could take up to six months. Meet the commissionersThe five member hearings panel is chaired by Greg Hill, with Basil Morrison, Trevor Robinson, Greg Ryder and Sheena Tepania. These independent commissioners bring a robust and balanced mix to the table, with special technical expertise in resource management planning, resource management law, rural community and farming knowledge and mātauranga Māori/tikanga perspective. |
