Happy Wednesday! Hopefully you've been keeping warm and dry in the strange weather today.

This week, there are plenty of chances to win great prizes by having your say and completing surveys about student health and wellbeing, the library and the Adelaide University Union!

Next week is also Islamic Awareness Week on campus, so take a look at the events around campus, and learn more about the Muslim community along the way.

Student Wellbeing Survey

Help us to help you! Tell us how you’re going and what you think the University could do to support your wellbeing, and you could go in the draw to win an Apple Watch, FitBit, or Samsung Galaxy Active - complete the survey now!

    Get your bike or device engraved by SAPOL to help track it down if it gets stolen. Western Courtyard, Hub Central (near the wooden steps), 24th October 11am - 1pm.

 
  • Free and discounted food for low income students
    Baptist Care SA has launched a new Community Food Hub in Adelaide - and students are welcome to shop there for discounted and free food. It's a great opportunity to improve wellbeing and eat well on a low income - find out more.

  • Are you a Counselling and Psychotherapy coursework postgrad?
    If so, the Faculty would like to hear your thoughts about your satisfaction with the program and how it might be enhanced for future students. A strictly confidential interview for current students is scheduled between 1-2 pm on Wednesday 30 October. Please register with Angela Alessi via this site.

 
  • WIN a year's worth of Netflix
    We want to know all about the students we represent! Take part in the Adelaide University Union's Annual Survey for your chance to win a year's worth of Netflix (among other great prizes) and help us shape our future policies, programs and activities!

 

  • Election of students to the University Council
    Nominations are now open for the election of one undergraduate and one postgraduate student to the University Council for a two-year term - and remember that nominations are due by 12:00pm, 18 October. Find further information and nomination forms on the Council election website.
 

Have your say on the University Library and WIN!
What do you think about the University Library? Complete the Library Client Survey and you could win one of several great prizes, including a $350 Load&Go Visa card! Not to mention your feedback will be used to help improve library services, resources, and study spaces.

Mid-Autumn Festival

18 October from 12 noon - Hub Central
Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival on the eve of Oz Asia Festival's Moon Lantern Parade! Hub Central will be transformed into Renao Street, which means ‘hot and noisy’. The event is free and all are welcome to enjoy food, music and all the excitement of Chinese hubbub in the hub.

Islam Awareness Week is back again to build bridges between the Muslim community and our beloved University community!
With awesome events over the whole week, make sure to get involved and come by to make new friends, have delicious food, and learn about the Muslim community.

Come along to the joint space pub crawl, courtesy of the Adelaide Uni Space Society and American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics - Student Branch!

    With exams approaching, the Union has you covered with strategies on how to study smarter, focus better and achieve more.

  • Anti-procrastination month
    Every Wednesday in October, 10 am to 1 pm - Writing Studio 
    Are you overwhelmed with assignment deadlines? Struggling to concentrate and focus? Want a friendly and supportive place to work? Come along and study during any of our sessions - there's no need to book!
 
  • A Day On The Lawn
    25 October, 11 am to 3 pm - Maths Lawns
    Shake off the winter blues and say hello to the sun with A Day on the Lawn!
    Is there anything better than simply relaxing in the sunshine with good friends, live entertainment and tasty snacks? Come along for flower braid stations, mini golf, thrift and plant stalls and more!

  • LCE Omani Night
    25 October, 6 pm to 8:30 pm - Rumours Cafe (level 6 Union House)
    The last cultural night for the Language & Cultural Engagement (LCE) program is Omani Night! This evening will celebrate the culture, food, and history of Oman. Come and join us for free dinner and fun activities.

 

Careers & employment

 

The Adelaide University Union advertises part time work for current students on the paid vacancies page from Employment Services.

Career Services are free for all students. CareerHub features a jobs board of opportunities related to your studies including paid work experience and graduate roles. The Careers team also run employer events and workshops to increase employability, build resumes, improve your interview skills and more.
