Cancer researcher named as NSW Young Woman of the Year Dr Samantha Wade from the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute and the University of Wollongong has been named as the 2021 NSW Young Woman of the Year. Dr Wade received the award for her research into pancreatic cancer, most notably the contribution to the invention of a device that can shrink pancreatic tumours. Read more
Australian Academy of Science honours Prof Joseph Powell
Prof Joseph Powell (Garvan Institute of Medical Research) has been awarded the 2021 Ruth Stephens Gani Medal from the Australian Academy of Science for his pioneering work in cellular genomics. Prof Powell is among 24 researchers to be recognised with honorific awards by the Academy. Read more

Practical Medical Genomics Course
UNSW Medicine Health are offering this 6 week online course aimed at providing medical practitioners with the specialised knowledge, skills and confidence required to successfully integrate genetics and genomics into their daily practice, including when to consult with clinical genetics and genomics services. The course will also provide resources that will allow medical practitioners to further-extend their knowledge of genetics and genomics following completion of the course, and to enhance skills relevant to future teaching and clinical research.
