TERM 2 WEEK 2 MAY 8, 2019
OUR LADY OF GRACE NEWSLETTER
This week's assembly is presented by the students in 6W.
Congratulations to the students who received Merit Awards at last week's assembly.
PARKING
I would ask that as a part of the community we are more considerate in our parking. I have had complaints from residents in the streets around our school, in particular Wilberforce and Hamersley that parents are using these streets for pick up and drop off. The grassed area outside the Church, the Bowling Club and the designated Church parking is also being used inappropriately. The Stirling Shire have been informed about random parking and will soon start to hand out fines for those who don’t use the significant designated parking available around our school. Please be considerate to our neighbours, we are part of this beautiful community and need to respect the property of others. Remember you are modelling this behavior to your children.
Tournament of Minds Process 2019
Our school has had a strong tradition in extending to children the opportunity to participant in Tournament of Minds (ToM). ToM is a competition designed to showcase critical thinking, teamwork, problem solving and creativity. The competition has disciplines of Arts, STEM, Social Sciences and Language Literature. Student voice is considered in the selection of each Tournament discipline team. A significant process including self and peer nominations, peer questionnaire, teacher questionnaire, and teaching and learning observations is used for classroom teachers, ToM facilitators and school Principal in selection of teams. Communication and regular updates regarding ToM will be ongoing throughout the selection process and competition.
Congratulations to Julius Ryan (PPG) and family on the safe arrival of Thomas. Our sincere condolences to Gidon Bogoyev (4B) and family on the sad passing of his grandfather. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
