Friday 27 September 2019 WelcomeWhat a successful, achievement-filled quarter it’s been! From awards, to significant project milestones, footy tipping winners and our very own ‘master chefs’ crowned, we’ve delighted in sharing both our own and our client’s successes, several of which we have shared in this edition of PowerPoints.Canada’s PPM Project Ahead of SchedulePowerHealth’s Canadian PPM project is making great progress. Since commencement, Montreal’s PowerSanté team has now costed 88% of the physical health expenses for Quebec hospitals and integrated over 1,750 of the 2,500 feeders. PowerSanté continues to focus on completing other project milestones such as pursuing the work started in non-hospital sectors, the provincial benchmark portal, and driving clinical engagement of the resulting information into individual establishments. With the final kick-off completed mid-September, the Quebec team can proudly confirm that implementation is now underway for all Quebec establishments. This last phase of PPM implementations will conclude in December this year, six months ahead of schedule – a great team effort! Members of the PowerSanté team have also been involved in additional activities such as knowledge transfer and PPM training. Three PPM quarterly training sessions have been held this year (alongside scheduled site visits) and another session is scheduled for December. All sessions have been well attended, with high engagement and excellent feedback. Attendees have expressed their appreciation for the quality of training provided and the professionalism of the PowerSanté trainers. Clinical EngagementPowerSanté’s performance team has also been involved in clinical engagement with Dr Pierre Gagné delivering presentations to heads of clinical departments and services across the province of Quebec. Patrick Power has also presented to establishment CEO's during his travels to Canada. Data Extraction AutomationPowerSanté has also launched data extraction automation, which will make establishments autonomous as the data makes its way into PPM in an automated and periodic manner, thereby allowing sites to focus on continuous quality improvement projects using timely and quality data. Congratulations to the PowerSanté team and all the Montreal health organisations who have worked well together to achieve such great results. Good Mental HealthLunch and LearnOur first ‘Lunch and Learn session was a great success this month with Projects Director, Stuart Mead, delivering an insightful presentation on 'Well Being and Mental Health'. In fact, the topic was so well received that a follow-up session has already taken place. Thanks to Stuart, and to our Personal and Professional Working Group for launching this initiative. We’re looking forward to some mind broadening lunch breaks in the coming months. What's your DNA Rate?In Australia the cost of missed appointments is significant. In a Media Statement released by the Government of Western Australian in February 2019, Health Minister Roger Cook commented that, "While more than 1.8 million outpatient appointments were delivered across our hospitals in 12 months, it is concerning that a further 160,000 appointments were missed and ultimately wasted. This results in $26 million in lost productivity and a high personal cost to other patients in need.” The PowerNav team are looking at how we can reduce patient anxiety when attending outpatient appointments, thus reducing the rate of missed appointments. Read more about how Digital Transformation can reduce 'did not attend' (DNA) rates while improving the patient experience. PowerHealth NewsPeninsula Health – Addressing the Credibility GapWe were delighted to see Dean Athan from Peninsula Health (PH) included in the finalists for the HFMA Finance 'Classification, Coding and Costing' Award. The successful turnaround of Peninsula Health, as presented at our User Conference this year, was certainly a noteworthy achievement. Well done to Dean and the Peninsula Health team. We’re proud of the important role our Power Performance Manager (PPM) product played in the project’s success. Read more about the turn-around in costings results achieved by Peninsula Health. The Health Finance Awards are open to all healthcare organisations and employees across Australia, and recognise the commitment and leadership that exists across the Australian health finance sector. Congratulations to all the 2019 HFMA Health Finance Award Finalists and Award winners. PowerHealth's Virginie Ducruc and Robert Lawson pictured with Dean Athan at the 2019 HFMA Gala Dinner Executive PA Awards - Debbie Thomas FinalistCongratulations to our Office Manager, Debbie Thomas who was selected as a finalist for ‘Best Organised Event’ at the 2019 Executive PA Awards. The global Executive PA Awards are the oldest and most established EA awards in the world, with nominations accepted from over 140 countries. The awards highlight and recognise the essential work of the executive support profession to an international audience. Debbie’s nomination recognised her tireless efforts in organising our User Conference this year, the results of which would have been apparent to those who attended. Debbie’s responsibilities included a multitude of activities behind-the-scenes as well as hands-on management of the two-day event. The PowerHealth team are delighted to see Debbie receive peer recognition for her efforts. PowerHealth ProjectsCalvary CareIn August our implementation of PowerPerformance Manager (PPM) at Calvary Care was officially signed off. Whilst we have previously been involved in setting up health fund contracts for Calvary, this implementation builds on this effort with the roll-out of the General Ledger (GL), Costing and Reporting modules. Great work from the PowerHealth and Calvary teams involved! Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba CanadaAfter PowerHealth (PHS) and Canadian Healthcare Management (CHM) completed a pilot project earlier this year, Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre is implementing PowerPerformance Manager (PPM).
Out and About - ConferencesPowerNav at Victorian Healthcare WeekThanks to all those who visited our booth at the recent IQPC Victorian Healthcare Week conference. There's no doubt that digital wayfinding is fast becoming an integral part of the patient experience, and PowerNav was highly topical throughout the two days. HFMA National CongressTwo of our team members, Robert Lawson (Business Development) and Virgine Ducruc (Costing Consultant) spent a couple of great days at the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) National Congress in Sydney 18-19 September. The theme of the conference was 'Transforming Business as Usual', which resonated strongly with PowerHealth as our solutions help organisations to align themselves with HFMA's vision of Sustainable Healthcare for a Health Australia. It was great to catch up with existing clients and the Australian HFMA community in general. Several of our clients had been nominated for awards at the Gala Dinner, including Dean Athan from Peninsula Health (Classification, Coding and Costing finalist) and Kemsley Fairhurst from Melbourne Health who took home the Finance Leader of the Year Award. Robert Lawson talking PowerNav at Victorian Healthcare Week Virginie Ducruc showing off the PowerHealth HFMA National Congress booth We enjoyed discussing our range of solutions over the two days and in particular PPM Mobile (which allows for actual staff-to-patient contact time for the allocation of clinical wages and salaries) and our PBFM (Budgeting, Forecasting and Modelling) solution. We're already looking forward to spending time with HFMA's Victorian contingent in Lorne later this year. PowerHealth CommunityFooty Tipping - The WinnersThe AFL season is almost over for another year and we’re looking forward to the Grand Final this weekend. Thanks to everyone who joined in the fun of our PowerHealth Footy Tipping Competition, we hope you had a great time participating. This year we had our closest competition yet with only one point separating first and second places!
A special mention goes to our fourth-place tipster, Alexandre Tardif. Being all the way over in Canada, Alexandre had never watched an AFL game before joining this comp and finished only one point behind third place. What a fantastic effort – well done Alexandre! We also had many weekly winners who won a $10 gift card for each winning round. Well done to all our winners:
Thank you again for joining us, we look forward your participation in 2020.10 Years Milestone for NickThis month we congratulated Nick Canatselis on his 10 year anniversary with PowerHealth. Nick joined PowerHealth straight from university - literally finishing university one week and starting with PHS the next! Nick has been a real asset to the team from day one, and as Development Manager works hard in to the background to ensure our products continue to be market-leading. Patrick congratulates NIck on his 10 years at PowerHealth PowerHealth SocialPowerHealth MasterChef 2019MasterChef has certainly been discussed in the media over the last few months and in July we celebrated our very own ‘Master Chefs’! Congratulations to Michael, Patrick, Ben and Debbie, whose culinary skills earned them first place in our social club cooking event. It was a pressure-packed but super fun night with delicious results! Let the food prepping begin! Cooking in full swing Our own master chefs... Winning team, Michael, Ben, Debbie and Patrick PowerSante’s Potluck DinnerDespite their busy schedules, PowerSanté’s members put together an international flavours’ potluck dinner on August 28th. To make the event more special, the extended PowerSanté family attended, with Patrick’s mum, Renee, and Brett Michael and family (visiting from Australia) joining in the fun. The icing on the cake was Brett’s son Sebastian who celebrated his birthday with the PHS family. He blew out his five candles like a champ! It was a great event where colleagues had lots of fun while sharing some of their culinary talents. Team members enjoy the international flavours Potluck Dinner A special birthday cake for Sebastian Old School Games MachineThe PowerHealth team love a good game, so the retro arcade games machine installed in our lunchroom for a couple of days in August proved to be a popular lunchtime activity. It was on like Donkey Kong! Escape RoomsThis month teams from PowerHealth tried their best to escape from a room of clues designed to test their intuition and detective skills. This was a social club organised event involving two teams, each required to work collaboratively to beat the clock and outrun their opponents! Both teams were very close but unfortunately no-one managed to escape! A fun night, but disappointment for the Adventure Rooms escape teams! Extreme Casual Day – Lifeline FundraiserIt was ‘excessively' Casual Friday in the Adelaide office in August with the PowerHealth team donning Ugg boots and slippers to stay warm and cosy inside while the temperatures plummeted outside! It was all for a good cause, of course. We collected double donations to support Lifeline’s recent Stress Down Day, which encourages fun activities to reduce stress in the workplace. |
