Club Respect - Pass it on

NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER 2020

Hello friends,

It's AGM (annual general meeting) season for many clubs around the country and in Melbourne, after 12 consecutive days of 0 COVID cases (now known as "donut days"), indoor and outdoor sports are starting to welcome back members.

Being COVID-safe at your club
Strict compliance of regulations is required to get everyone playing again. Club processes and communication need to be strong during this period as club integrity comes under the microscope. With cases remaining quite low there will be pressure from players and parents to loosen regulations. This will be a tough time for your club. Stay strong and stick to it.

Club Respect website resources
We've established a series of 'What you can do' info sheets for 8 specific roles at your club. This month we're focusing on 'The Committee Member'. We encourage you to print them all out (front and back!) if possible and hand them to the people in your club.

Integrity in sport
Doping and match-fixing issues have been at the heart of global sport integrity issues. The recently established Sport Integrity Australia will tackle these issues and in addition, cover the creation of safe, fair and inclusive sporting environments. What does this mean for clubs? Check out Iain Roy's piece below.

Dealing with complaints and discipline matters
By Margot Foster

"... One of the biggest challenges clubs face in dealing with either of these matters is that everyone usually knows everyone.  Then there is the gossip and social media that goes with the territory of people being nosey, taking sides or just weighing in generally because they can."

Tips for The Committee Member | Club Respect

Club culture is the sum of all of its parts; the values, beliefs and attitudes and the behaviours of all the people in and around the club. Club Respect places a 'right actions' lens over each of these roles. We encourage you to print them out if possible and hand them to the people in your club who you think will benefit.

The committee member, our focus for this month, helps shape and direct the culture of the club.
