Queen Square innovation gets acclaim

NHNN consultant nurse, Bernadette Porter, is one of only 17 healthcare pioneers in the UK to get national support to roll out their clever healthcare innovation to other hospitals, GPs and patients in the UK.

Bernadette’s model of care, called NeuroResponse, currently enables MS patients to contact the hospital via phone, email or video conference with specialists between hospital visits. The aim is to help those with MS to manage their lives and their care with confidence.

Now the telephone service is going to be expanded and adapted for other neurological conditions and will be rolled out across the country, thanks to the NHS Innovation Accelerator Programme and Queen Square’s very own Bernadette! Full details of all the other innovations can be found here.

A Letter in Mind: deadline tomorrow!

We have had such fun in the office over the past weeks opening all your incredible envelope artworks for A Letter in Mind! But here’s a final reminder for all you budding artists who are taking part in our upcoming fundraising exhibition – the deadline is Friday 24 July. We need as many entries as possible so please send in your envelope artwork asap. If you’ve started your entry but haven’t managed to quite finish it, please email us as we may be able to make certain exceptions.

Meet Brooke

We have a new member of the team at Brain Appeal HQ – Brooke Parsons. She is our new Fundraising Coordinator and is excited about helping to support you in a challenge event or on your own tailor-made event.

“I can’t wait to get to know our supporters and help make their fundraisers a huge success!” says Brooke. “A priority of mine at the moment is the Windsor Running Festival, the Running4Women 10k and the Half Marathon on 26 & 27 September. We still have places left for both events so if you’re interested or know someone who might be, please get in touch with me.”

Brooke is perfectly placed to advise you when you take on one of our physical challenges, being a keen dancer and having trekked in South America and white-water-rafted in New Zealand.

At the moment we have spaces not only at Windsor but also for Trekfest − a beautiful course set in the Peak District on 5 & 6 Sept.

Got a question about any of our challenges? Just email Brooke!

Thanks for your continued support!

Theresa, Marcelle, Jess, Brooke, Leigh and Cara
