The venue was The Plant, a “collaborative community of small food businesses” housed in a 93,500 square foot facility that was once a meat packing plant… ICA Represented at North Side Listening Session with Mayor-ElectICA Chief Operating Officer Lesley Showers joined 30 other community leaders for a North Side meeting with the soon-to-be-Mayor Lori Lightfoot… Historic Significance of ICA GreenRise Displayed on Landmark PlaqueOn May 14th, 2019, a new plaque was installed on the facade of ICA GreenRise, a physical display of the building’s status as a Chicago Landmark. It reads... Memorial Held in Celebration of the Life of Sally StovallSally Stovall, a long-time ICA colleague and founder of Green Community Connections and One Earth Film Festival passed away suddenly on May 21st, 2019. A memorial service and celebration of her life was held on May 25th at Euclid Avenue Methodist Church in Oak Park, IL, where Sally was a parishioner. Hundreds came out to two separate services, a demonstration of Sally’s leadership, enthusiasm, energy, and unwavering dedication to environmental work. This project invites people to consider Fifth City’s plans, symbols, and rituals for community transformation as part of an active creative community process culminating in an evening-length performance. Nourish (comm)Unity: Building Victory GardensWest Side Building Victory Gardens is organized by Westside Bee Boyz, Garfield Park Advisory Council, and Windsor Park Lutheran Church as part of Chicago Sustainability Leaders Network's Nourish (comm)Unity series. Participants at this event will learn the basics of building a raised bed with some basic instruction and hands on activity. This bike ride invites community members to explore coastal and native plants in the Uptown area.
