Read this excellent summary of how it affects careers, provided by Janet Colledge from her Outstanding careers website. 2019 Youth Voice CensusYouth Employment UK has published the results from the 2019 Youth Voice Census, a survey capturing the experiences of more than 3,000 14-24-year olds. The census highlights that careers education is improving and shows an increased engagement with employers at school. However, it also highlights a lack of information and guidance for young people on both careers and educational pathways at 16. Careers Leaders Training BursariesThe CEC still has some funded training bursaries available for Careers Leaders in schools and colleges. All places are fully funded at no cost to the school and they also provide a £1,000 bursary to the institution on completion, to cover any expenses incurred. The WOW ShowFocussing on some of the very exciting Allied Health Profession (AHP) roles such as Operating Department Practitioner, Podiatrist, Occupational Therapist, this edition of The WOW Show will be live streamed on the 26th June 2019 at 10am. The show includes some short videos showing a selection of AHPs at work, followed by a panel Q&A. It is aimed at year groups 8-11 and will be available to watch on demand afterwards. BECTUBECTU, the UK's media and entertainment union, have a Student Register to help young people get prepped for their future career in the industry. The register is a contact scheme which puts students in touch with industry developments and opportunities. Signing up to the Student Register is free. Stageworks StudiosThis specialist performing arts institution in St Neots, offers full-time training in musical theatre, acting and professional performance for ages 16-21. AspireThis project, developed by the social mobility charity upReach, provides a range of free resources for teachers, students and Parents/carers aimed at inspiring sixth formers to aim high, stretch themselves and realise their potential. Bloodhound SSCExcellent free STEM resources are available at the Bloodhound site to help demonstrate science in action. Resources include presentations that can be used in lessons and cover subjects such as jet engines, speed of sound, and air resistance.
