The Scottish public and supporters of the Disasters Emergency Committee across the UK have been praised for their generosity in responding to the latest current appeal for communities devastated by the Cyclone Idai in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi. The appeal has now raised £21 million across the UK, with donations in Scotland alone nearing £2 million, including £150,000 from the Scottish Government. Girls in Malawi get digital lessons from Small Grants ProgrammeTraining for 80 teachers in Malawi to provide computing skills for girls is among 18 projects to be delivered through the Scottish Government Small Grants fund. The 2019-2020 Programme will grant a total of £468,525 to 18 small Scottish organisations working to support some of the world’s most vulnerable communities with local partners.
