December at Cove Park and
Looking Forward to 2020As 2019 draws to a close we would like to thank all the artists, companies, groups and organisations involved in our programme this year. Cove Park welcomed over 50 individual national and international artists during our summer programme of funded residencies alone. This year, artists travelled from throughout Scotland and the UK, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, the Ukraine and USA to Cove Park and, through our new European Residency Programme, we worked directly with artists and organisations in Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Norway, The Netherlands and Sweden. Working in collaboration with other organisations is vitally important to us and in 2019 we have developed projects with a wide range of partners, including: Cryptic,
Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, Fuel, Hospitalfield, King's College London, The Lighthouse, LUX Scotland, Magnetic North, National Centre for Writing, Playwrights' Studio Scotland, Publishing Scotland, Royal Scottish Academy, TENT Rotterdam, Varuna, The National Writers' House of Australia and The Work Room. We are now looking forward to 2020, Cove Park's 20th anniversary year! Future Newsletters will include details of special residencies, events and projects to mark this anniversary and involve more artists, organisations and participants in our work. Scroll down for details on how to apply to our funded residency programmes, a wonderful new limited edition print by Charlotte Prodger, the refurbishment of our accommodation Cubes and forthcoming Festive Workshops as part of Hands-On. Scotland + Venice 2019The 58th International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia closed on 24 November 2019. The presentation of Charlotte Prodger's new work SaF05, commissioned by the Scotland + Venice partnership and curated by Linsey Young with Cove Park, and the concurrent Scottish Tour of the work across the west coast, Highlands and Islands, also ended last month. We are thrilled to have had this opportunity to work with Charlotte, Linsey and
Emma McIntyre, the Scotland + Venice Project Manager, on this ambitious and wonderful presentation and would like to thank everyone involved on the development and realisation of this project. We would also like to thank the 17 members of the Scotland + Venice 2019 Professional Development Programme: young artists from throughout Scotland employed to represent Charlotte's work during the exhibition and welcome visitors to the venue. A wonderful limited edition print by Charlotte Prodger, Baked Alaska, is now available for sale from Cove Park. This 15-colour screenprint draws upon research material for SaF05 and was produced at Glasgow Print
Studio. The artist has kindly donated the work in support of Cove Park's residency programme in 2020. Further information on the edition and how to buy this outstanding new work is available here. Image: Members of the Scotland + Venice 2019 Professional Development Programme
Accommodation for 2020 and BeyondCove Park's original Cubes - recycled shipping containers designed by Urban Space Management as live/work spaces and sponsored by the Andor Charitable Trust - arrived on site in 2002 and have become a much-loved feature of our 50-acre site. These three Cubes are now being upgraded as part of a refurbishment project led by CameronWebster Architects, the company responsible for the Jacobs Building, Cove Park's award-winning Artists Centre. The Cubes, known as Arran, Bute and Cumbrae, are being given new kitchens, bathrooms, front windows and floors. This project will ensure we can continue to
offer high-quality, comfortable spaces for those taking part in our residency programmes over the next 20 years. Image: Cove Park's Original Cubes (photography, Ruth Clark)
