Proposed changes to diabetes QOF indictors have taken a step closer following a consultation. NICE has proposed small amendments to some diabetes indicators for general practice, with a consultation running from July 18 to August 8. Prescribing patterns for type 2 diabetes have changed “markedly” in the UK since 2000 in line with developments to clinical guidelines and new therapies, a study has found. Researchers from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine investigated the changes in prescribing for type 2 diabetes between 2000 and 2017. The deadline for an audit into the use of a popular guideline covering variable rate intravenous insulin infusion (VRIII) in inpatients has been extended to September 30. In 2014, the Joint British Diabetes Societies – Inpatient Care Group (JBDS-IP) launched the document, designed to guide non-specialist teams in the appropriate and safe use of VRIII.
