We'll return from 4 January onwards. ![]() ![]() Kai Iwi Lakes Coastal Track reopenedThe Kai Iwi Lakes Coastal Track, near Dargaville, has reopened – just a stone’s throw from the one DOC had to close last year. The 2.3km track links the popular dune lakes with the wild, northern end of Ripiro Beach. ![]() 7 more kilometres of Rangitata accessWe have some great news for Canterbury salmon and trout anglers. Our advice to the Overseas Investment Office has helped secure a 7km long esplanade strip on the true left of Rangitata River. ![]() Mahia locals open peninsula track Te Aratia Walkway straddles the Mahia Peninsula in Hawke’s Bay. It’s part of a community-run project that has retired land and planted trees, bringing native fish and birds back to the area. Early vision and leadership came from Tuahuru Marae and Kaiuku Marae. A decade of this work was celebrated earlier this month at the track’s official opening ceremony. ![]() Forming a Coromandel trail network Coromandel Cycle Trails Collective hopes to expand the region’s trail network to 400km. New access could link existing tracks and public spaces, including unformed legal roads, and private land where landholders are supportive. Herenga ā Nuku regional field advisor, Lauren Schick says, “We enjoy finding ways to make individual tracks part of something bigger.” ![]() Planning ahead in Clevedon Outdoor Access Champion award winner Josephine Elworthy has worked toward a trails network in Clevedon with her Clevedon Trails Steering Group colleagues for over a decade. They have plans for 17km of walking, cycling and bridle trails through and around the historic and picturesque town. ![]() Linking Pukekohe's five summits Pukekohe residents and visitors can explore the township and its green spaces more easily thanks to Judy Donovan’s work with Pukekohe Tramping Club. Her achievements have earned her an Outdoor Access Champion award.
