Click here March past magnificenceThe opening ceremony is a special part of any Masters Games, and for 2017 the Great Barrier Reef Masters Games will hold an official march past along the picturesque Cairns Esplanade to kick-off celebrations. March in with your team or as an individual - but make sure you stand out from the crowd because there will be a fantastic prize for the best dressed! The march past will be on the opening night of the Games, Thursday 25 May starting at 6pm. Participants will walk along the Esplanade to the Social Hub for the official opening which will be followed by a great line-up of entertainment including crowd favourite Dr Elephant. The closing date for the 2017 Great Barrier Masters Games early bird special is March 31 - so make sure you get your registration in now! Congratulations LloydCongratulations to Lloyd Everist - winner of our Early Early Bird incentive prize competition. Lloyd has signed up to play squash in this year's Games. Lloyd and three friends will now spend their time at the 2017 Great Barrier Reef Masters Games staying at the luxurious Mantra Trilogy. He also receives a trip for 4 to the Great Barrier Reef on Sunlover Cruises, plus complimentary registration fees.
Golf back in the swingThe team at the 2017 GBRMG are excited to have Golf back on the program for the 2017 Games, and it is proving a popular return for the sport. Half Moon Bay Golf Club, located near Yorkeys Knob beach, will host the competition which includes a men's and women's two-day individual stableford and the popular 4 person Ambrose. The presentation of medals will take place on Sunday afternoon/evening and will include dinner at the 19th hole. The cost will be $25.00 per person payable on the first day of competition. Not only does the Walker Road Sporting Complex feature five diamond fields to service baseball and softball, but the multi-use facility also boasts oval fields to accommodate vigoro, cricket, AFL and hockey, rectangular fields for football (soccer), touch and oztag, and new multi-purpose amenities hubs.
