Science and technology will continue to play a key role in the agricultural sector to ensure that there is a safe and abundant food supply, but exactly what that role will be is an important topic of discussion.

Policy blog: Today's oil prices – Something special or just the same old?

Falling oil prices continue to be bad news for Alberta, with layoffs, spending cutbacks and an emerging government budget deficit.

The question is, is this the same boom and bust cycle that Alberta has grown accustomed to throughout our natural resource history, or is the current economic downturn the end of an era?

To get some context we sat down with Dr. Paul Chastko, a member of the University of Calgary’s History Department who specializes in the history of the petroleum industry, international politics, and globalization.

Learn more about how we got to the oil prices we have today and what makes it special.

Twitter reaches deal to show tweets in Google search results

Twitter reaches deal to show tweets in Google search results

In a move that will bring added relevancy to your company's tweets, Google is set to reintroduce all of Twitter's data into its search results.

Google currently serves up a fraction of the data created by Twitter's 284 million users, but this deal will see the search giant index all of that data with access to its data "firehose,", making every tweet count.

It's unclear yet whether Google will give the content from Twitter any special treatment in its results as it did in previous agreements.

Learn more about the deal and what it means for the companies.
