Ventana Fiesta 2019 –- enjoy this cultural celebration
This year's festival kicks off with the Ventana Carnaval & Grand Opening event, on Saturday 2 March, 2–10pm, Frankston Arts Centre. Immerse yourself in Latin American, Portuguese and Spanish cultures throughout the day with delicious BBQs, street food, music, dance performances, craft stalls and workshops for the entire family to enjoy. The celebration continues into April, with exhibitions, music and the Ventana Film Festival.
Australian Skateboarding League is coming
Saturday 23 February, 11am–4pm, Frankston Skate Park, 16N Cranbourne Road, Frankston, $25 per entrant. YMCA, together with Skate Australia and Frankston City Council, are hosting the Victorian qualifiers for the Australian Skateboarding League (ASL) and local skaters are invited to enter.
$3.8 million Overport Park Pavilion
Works are now underway on the new pavilion, which will provide the Frankston community with new state-of-the-art sports facilities, including four female-friendly change rooms, a new kitchen and kiosk, a multi-purpose community room and meeting room. The upgrade will also include new public toilets.

Council runs a six-monthly series of FREE environmental sustainability events, designed to help residents live more sustainably. A variety of topics are offered, to help people reduce their environmental impacts and actively enhance the biodiversity and amenity of our local environment.
Notification of works: Carrum Downs Recreation Reserve
What: Works have started to construct the synthetic sporting ground at Carrum Downs Reserve.
Disruption: First stage involves removal of trees along the eastern side of the oval (adjoining the tennis club) and approximately 4 to 6 weeks of earth moving works. Contractors will access the oval via the tennis club car park and this will be closed off to the public.
Completion: The oval is expected to be ready for use by June 2019.
2019 Clean Up Australia Day registrations are now open. Residents, schools and businesses can register a new site online or join an existing one.

$30m federal funding for Ballarto Road
Prime Minister, Scott Morrison announced last week the Federal Government would fund an intersection upgrade at Ballarto Road. In the past ten years local population has grown significantly, with Ballarto Road carrying over 12,000 vehicles each day. Council looks forward to seeing works commence once a date has been announced.
Revitalised Waterfront Playground now open
Works are complete on the Waterfront play area, now featuring a diverse range of activities designed to cater for all levels of play. The upgrades included refurbishment of the iconic ‘pixie hats’ (steel cone roofs) and used durable materials better suited to the harsh coastal environment. The space also includes sand and water play zones, ramps, shelter, decks, new swings and slides.
