Brisbane City Council (BCC) Creative Sector Survey

BSB recently held an information session regarding BCC's Creative Sector Survey, which is intended to help better understand the creative industries in Brisbane and to inform future services and support for the sector, including the ongoing implementation of Creative Brisbane Creative Economy 2013-22.

The survey is among the first research of its kind in Australia and engaging a representative sample from across the sector is essential to its success.

BSB encourages members to complete the survey to ensure that BCC recognise 4101 as Brisbane’s creative hub.

Click here to complete the survey.

The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and will be open until early December. Please be assured that your responses will remain anonymous and results will be reported at an aggregated level only.

If you have any questions about the survey or need support in completing it, please contact Michael Peterson, Team Leader Creative Sector Development, on 07 3027 4639 or email Michael.Peterson@brisbane.qld.gov.au.

Opera Queensland Announces Season 2017

Last week, Opera Queensland (OperaQ) announced their 2017 season that will feature boundary-pushing collaborations, performances of lush grand opera and Victorian gothic madness. OperaQ Artistic Director, Lindy Hume, said over the last five years the company had listened to audiences and responded with programming that celebrates the unique qualities of Queensland.

“As a contemporary opera company, OperaQ should reflect our time and place, and look to the future while celebrating the riches of an opera repertoire spanning more than 400 years,” Ms Hume said.

2017 will see OperaQ partner with Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Music Festival and Queensland Symphony Orchestra as well as continuing their $25 ticket initiative.

For seasoned opera lovers, OperaQ will stage Gilbert & Sullivan’s Ruddigore, or The Witch’s Curse and Bizet’s exotic, colonial Ceylon-inspired masterpiece The Pearlfishers.

Tickets will be available for purchase by the general public from 9am on Friday 4 November. For more information on OperaQ’s 2017 program, visit www.operaq.com.au
