Water strategy project wins a top engineering award

The Agnes Water and Seventeen Seventy Integrated Water Strategy project has taken out a top prize at the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) Queensland State Conference.

Preparations under way for region's biggest art award

Artists are busily putting the finishing touches on their entries for the Gladstone Region's major art award - the 2013 Rio Tinto Alcan Martin Hanson Memorial.

With a prize pool equalling $22,500 and the prestige of exhibiting in a major regional gallery, it is no surprise that the Awards - now in their 38th year - are an annual favourite.

Entries will be received at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum between October 30 and November 2 from 10am to 5pm.

Opening events on November 9 will include a judge's floor talk and illustrated lecture.

The official opening and awards presentation will also be held on November 9 at 6pm.

New logo design unveiled for state-of-the-art centre

A new logo design has been unveiled for the Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre in the lead-up to the hosting of its first public event, a Melbourne Cup luncheon on November 5.

Mayor meets with delegates

Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) members and the Government Whip in the legislative Council of Western Australia recently met with industry and Council representatives.

Discussions included recent advances in the governance and management arrangement of industrial ports, current and future challenges in the region and how these are being addressed.
