A free online course for health and social care practitioners, students, service users and volunteers will launch at the end of October.

The course is open to anyone interested in how care and compassion is delivered across the health and social care spectrum, offering an enjoyable and enlightening professional development opportunity. With 15 hours of learning over 5 weeks, this course will enable you to learn with experts in the field and have the opportunity to share insights from your own practice and the experience of others.

Disability Services has made a donation to the charity SANE, who campaign to reduce the stigma around mental illness - so Horace is here on loan until February to help raise awareness.

The University is also raising awareness of mental health through the Dundee Literary Festival programme (notably, Seconds to Snap,  Mind Your Head and A Fresh Look at Death), while DUSA's Minds Matter campaign continues for a second year. 

Two DJCAD PhD students, Valentina Bonizzi and Kieran Baxter, have been shortlisted for a prestigious Arts and Humanities Research Council’s 2016 Research in Film Awards. Hundreds of films were submitted for the Awards this year and the overall winner for each category will receive £2,000 towards their film-making.

Valentina's and Kieran's submissions were incuded in the twenty-five films that have been shortlisted across five categories in the Arts and Humanities Research Council’s 2016 Research in Film Awards.

The winner for each category will be announced at an awards ceremony at BAFTA in London on Thursday 10 November - good luck to Valentina and Kieran!

Medical artists from the Medical and Dental Schools have taken their 3D models and collaborated with teaching staff to create informative interactive content with Sketchfab - a free online hosting site for 3D content.

Sketchfab was showcased in a UoDigital event earlier this year - watch the video online.

The Islamic Society's Charity Week takes place from Monday 24 October until Sunday 30 October with a whole host of events lined up, including bake sales and five-a-side football. Charity Week's goal is to raise money for orphans and under-privliaged children around the world, under Islamic Relief.

Referencing is important as it demonstrates the breadth and depth of your reading and that you understand the need to acknowledge the work of others in your writing. To get it right each time, start by reading your Module Handbook as each subject has its own system of referencing; look for detailed advice on how your referencing system works on the Cite Them Right webpages, available on the Library website.

James Raymond (University of Edinburgh) and Professor Douglas Steele are running an MRI study in the School of Medicine and need to recruit people who are cool, calm and collected. The study involves a decision-making task and a brain scan. Volunteers will receive £20-30.
