Yayasan Bumi Sehat, translated to ‘Healthy Mother Earth’, was founded as a not-for-profit organisation in 1995 and is based in Bali, Indonesia. Since May 2016 the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) has provided ultrasound trainers and medical experts each year to educate Indonesian midwives and doctors in basic point of care obstetric ultrasound.
This year participants not only come from Bumi Sehat Clinic, midwives and doctors also come from sister clinics such as Rumah Sakit Madani, Sumba Foundation, midwives of STIKES (College of Health), and also included midwives from Papua New Guinea.
Thank you to our volunteers for supporting this important Outreach work and best wishes to the midwives as they utilise their ultrasound skills to improve patient care and outcomes.

The healthcare service is already being impacted by COVID-19 (Coronavirus). ASUM wants to convey the latest information from the relevant bodies to ensure factual information is provided to our members and the ultrasound community. The latest information from the Australian Chief Medical Officer and the Department of Health can be downloaded here.
We would encourage you to stay updated with factual information provided by the health departments of both Australia and New Zealand.

ASUM is pleased to announce that (together with 20 other organisations) we have endorsed the Australian guideline for the prevention, diagnosis and management of acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD) (3rd edition) 2020, issued by RHD Australia. The overall aim of this guideline is to advance medical treatment and management of ARF and RHD to benefit the population of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, just as they have for non-Indigenous Australians.

Clinical governance is a shared responsibility to ensure all patients receive the best of care. The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health care have released a fact sheet on the Clinical governance for allied health practitioners.
You can download here from the Commission website.
The fact sheet joins the suite of resources on clinical governance for professional groups, complementing the National Model Clinical Governance Framework.
