Congratulations you’ve obviously done a good job raising these young people. We have made sure that OLG’s response to COVID-19 has been calm, transparent and vigilant and our attitude of “be alert not alarmed” has served us well. We need to be conscious that a COVID-19 diagnosis is an ongoing possibility for our school and community. We have plans in place should a staff member or a child be diagnosed and wanted to share with you the steps you will need to take if we are required to close our school. We have provided a 5 step plan that you can print and have in your car and on your fridge door so that all members of your family, including those who will pick your child up, will know what to do. The care and safety of your children has been at the forefront of all of our decisions and will continue to be so. Pastoral care of the person diagnosed and their family is paramount, our usual pastoral care processes will be employed once a diagnosis is given. Parents will be informed through our formal communication channels – newsletter, letter and Flexibuzz. Individual calls, emails, or unofficial social media posts only draw our attention away from your children - please follow the school communication channels. If in the case of a diagnosis of COVID-19 for a Staff member or child at Our Lady of Grace, the school will; · Be informed by the Chief Medical Officer that a diagnosis of COVID-19 has occurred with staff or a child. The wellbeing, emotional, physical and psychological safety of children directly impacts the capacity of children to learn. We are drawing on our Wellbeing Strategy developed with parents and staff last year to structure our focus on Wellbeing. We will be hearing the voice of students and parents on Friday in order to track how effective our actions are and to plan for future actions. The link for a quick 2 question anonymous survey for parents is attached here, we’d love to hear from you so our P&F can help us rebuild our strong community. Wellbeing at OLG is defined as; FEELING GOOD, FUNCTIONING WELL AND DOING GOOD FOR OTHERS. Please join us at Mass this Friday (online) and follow our social media throughout the day to see the wonderful activities we will be undertaking Friday May 29 OLG Wellbeing Day. Children are asked to dress in their House colours and bring an item of non-perishable food for the St Vincent De Paul Society. We have deliberately selected the Friday before the long weekend for this day. It’s a great opportunity to lead into four days with your family. If for any reason you are intending to pick your child up early on Friday please expect significant delays as children will not be in their classrooms they will be out and about having fun and learning about their Strengths, Habits, Awareness, Relationships, Emotions and Resiliency. NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK This week is National Reconciliation Week and a time when we are invited to reflect on our role of how Australians continue to grow and develop together. Our responsibility as caring and compassionate Christians is to be informed, aware and on the front foot with reconciliation. Many first nation cultures around the world have worked through difficult histories and great sadness to emerge with greater appreciation and solidarity with each other. As Australians we have so much to be grateful for including our unique history going back over 60,000 years. The theme for National Reconciliation Week this year is ‘In this Together’ and the attached link from Reconciliation Australia provides an optimistic view for our future together. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiZ95iM02BW_l4YTckTSoYA. Thank you - flyer drop Scholastic Book Club Family Meals and Kids Snack Packs Please note, when we reach the capacity for family meals, they will be closed off for ordering. We recommend ordering early to avoid disappointment. The updated meal menu will be available on QuickCliq and the school website by the end of the week. Recess and Lunch The P&F Executive Committee is back up and running and looking forward to re-engaging with the OLG school community over the next 4 weeks. A big priority for us is to ensure we hear from as many parents as we possibly can to seek feedback on how we best support OLG as we gradually transition back to ‘normal’ school life. We will be asking for parent feedback in the coming weeks so please be open to sharing some of your thoughts and ideas. Stay safe & take care everyone! We acknowledge the original custodians of this land, the Nyungar people, and show our respect for their ancestors and traditions. Our Lady of Grace School |
