Synod Standing Committee Update
Moderator Bronte Wilson commenced the Synod Standing Committee (SSC) meeting on Friday, April 9th with a devotion from Isaiah 61:1-8 and Matthew 22. He reminded all that as the Uniting Church we seek justice; we reach out and support; we bring care and compassion, without judgement or reward.

Informing Children and Young People.
This month we continue our series on the Principles of a Child Safe Uniting Church with Principle 2: 'Children and young people are informed about their rights, participate in decisions affecting them and are taken seriously.'

Spotlight
On 9th April the Synod Standing Committee announced the resignation of the Rev Professor Andrew Dutney from his position as Principal of the Uniting College. Andrew will continue in a revised role as Executive Officer of Mission and Leadership Development and of the Adelaide College of Divinity.

Event Highlight
An ecumenical opportunity for training on Climate Change. This online workshop is being held on Friday, 23rd April, and will provide participants with an alternative way to reframe climate and creation care communications and conversations among Christians.

Children's Art Activity
What should our neighbourhoods look like? NAPCAN is looking for art-works to show what children and young people think about their neighbourhoods. Art-works will be used in this year’s campaign to help show that protecting children is about working together as a community.

Prayer Points
This week we pray for:
-
Lord, we ask that you keep COVID-19 from continuing to spread and that Governments will be able to safely manage the on-going impacts of this pandemic
-
We pray that the vaccine roll-out will be effective and will continue to protect all peoples especially the most vulnerable in our society
-
We hold in prayer the people of Myanmar as they continue to face an on-going state of emergency following the recent military coup
-
We pray for the British Royal Family at the loss of the Duke of Edinburgh and for all those that may be grieving the loss of loved ones at this time.

Reflection of the week
With Easter just gone and the school holidays now started, for many it is a time when people take a break and spend time away from their usual commitments. We can often get so busy in our usual day-to-day activities that we forget that rest is as equally important as being active.
