Australia's peak industry body for research, data and insights organisations EXECUTIVE TEAM FOR 2020-21 Dear AMSRO members, We are pleased to announce that the following industry leaders were elected (unopposed) to the AMSRO Executive Management team at the recent Annual General Meeting (held 29 October 2020):
Rob McLachlan stepped down from his official capacity after more than 30 years on the AMSRO Executive. Thankfully, Rob won’t be leaving AMSRO just yet however and has kindly agreed to continue sharing his indispensable knowledge as an Independent Industry Advisor to the team. The 2021 Executive continues to draw on the experience of many dedicated members who have served AMSRO exceptionally well for over five years, as well as welcoming our newcomers – Martin, Laura and Jenny, who have stepped up from the wider committee to bring a fresh perspective and their own extensive industry experience to the table. Following the formal AGM proceedings, members enjoyed an insightful and topical fireside chat with leading economist, Richard Gibbs, Director at Urbis and George Zdanowicz. The Next Normal – life during and after COVID-19 looked at how the pandemic continues to challenge the conventional socio-economic foundations of our communities and the powerful structural forces that are shaping household, business and government behaviour. Richard’s session generated a lively discussion, which could have easily continued much longer, had time permitted. We thank Richard for his time and thought-provoking content and AMSRO Committee member Caroline Tomiczek for the introduction. If you missed the presentation, you are encouraged to view the slides here. George Zdanowicz then presented an update on the Australian and global industry size and growth, drawing on various sources including the ESOMAR Global Market Research Report and AMSRO's Revenue Statistics Report. Sarah Wrigley shared the latest findings of our COVID-19 member survey (#3) which showed positive signs in terms of changes to business/operations, productivity and preparedness for a potential COVID -19 case in the workplace. A copy of the presentation is available via the recently launched new look AMSRO website via the AGM page. Thank you to the many members who participated in the survey. As we move closer to a new year, we are excited by the opportunity and (hopefully) the chance to meet face-to-face and enjoy one another’s company at the Leaders Forum scheduled in Sydney on March 18, 2021. In the meantime, we look forward to continuing to serve our members and industry by delivering relevant, reliable and accessible services for organisations of all sizes, whilst maintaining excellent corporate governance and a high degree of transparency and accountability to our membership.
