The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced the official publication of a new version of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) which includes a new chapter on Conditions Related to Sexual Health, bringing together conditions that were previously categorized in other ways and mostly under mental disorders. The use of growth hormone (GH) as an anti-aging therapy has gained popularity over the years, but experts caution that off-label use is not substantiated by available research.

In a recent Journal of Sexual Medicine commentary, Drs. Lorenzo DiGiorgio and Hossein Sadeghi-Nejad point out that this use is off-label and, in some cases, illegal. 

GH is typically used to treat childhood GH deficiency, AIDS wasting syndrome, short bowel syndrome, and hypopituitarism.

However, clinical research into its use for hormonal rejuvenation has had mixed results. Studies tend to focus GH in relation to bone and skeletal health, memory, cognition, and functional status.
