News From BrandBucket No Images? Click here Sellers' Newsletter: October 2018Hi , With the cooler temperatures approaching us, make sure to bundle up! We have a lot of news to share, so buckle in for an extended version of our monthly newsletter! New Feature: Expanded PromotionBrandBucket is always working on the best and most innovative ways to bring traffic and more sales to all of our sellers. We are very happy and proud to announce our newest feature Expanded Promotion. This is new perk for all of our sellers to be able to get more eyes on their names. How it works: We are partnering with 3rd Party Marketplaces so sellers can seamlessly publish their domains on multiple platforms. Currently, through your BrandBucket account with one click you can opt-in to have BrandBucket market your names on Sedo on your behalf. BrandBucket makes it easy for the sellers to sync their names on two platforms without having to worry about different sales teams, updating prices on multiple accounts, different name servers etc; we make the process automatic! We wanted to make it a one-click option for sellers, who choose to participate, get more eye on their names without any extra work. You can find the new feature under the ‘Account’ tab in your BrandBucket account. The domain aftermarket can be hard for buyers to navigate and trust, especially when the same domain is for sale at multiple websites at differing prices. As Margot Bushnaq, BrandBucket’s Founder and CEO explains: “Since its launch in 2007, one of the primary goals of BrandBucket has been to bring clarity, trust and usability to how great business domain names are bought and sold. Through our new Expanded Promotion feature we help our sellers get more exposure for their names through a central management platform, but just as importantly we help buyers feel comfortable that regardless of the sales platform they choose they will get the same and best price for the domain.” We are excited for this new feature and look forward to seeing the outcomes for our sellers! TechDay LAOn September 27th, part of the BrandBucket team made their way down to The Reef in DTLA for a phenomenal day of everything technology! We had immense interest from buyers, sellers and companies who wanted to partner with us.It was really exciting to be able to share what we do with a wide audience of people from all over the country. We came across two companies at TechDay that bought their names off of BrandBucket! Our very own Christine did a pitch for TechCrunch. Overall, it was a great success & are excited to see all the positives that come from exhibiting. Top Left: Andreia & Christine with staff from Statful, who's name was bought from BrandBucket. A Quick Look Back at SeptemberWith the school year starting and the holiday season approaching, we saw a slight shift in categories that were sold last month. The education category made its debut on our top 15 categories last month. Removing sales over $10k, our average sale amount was $2,865. Keyword: The month of September had an uptick of One Word Keyword sales from 2% to 6% as well as for Misspellings from 3% to 4%. Still holding strong, Two Word Keywords takes the greatest chunk of sales for September. With Prefix/Suffix stayed the same in the month of August to last month. Invented: In September, the highest selling Invented category went to 6 Letter names compared to 5 Letter words being the top in August. The biggest change for Invented names was 8 Letter names sales jumped from 10% of total sales to 25%. Categories: From August to September, the top two categories remained the same. Following the uptick in 6 Letter sales, the 6-Letter category made its way to the 3rd spot. As mentioned earlier, the Education category made its appearance, potentially following the beginning of the school year! We are interested to see how these categories shift during different seasons, holidays and events throughout the calendar year. Invented vs Keyword: Compared to August, we only saw a 2% change. August was 60% to 40% with September at 38% to 62%. That buyer preference for keyword names is following the trend we are seeing over the last 24 months of new startups being formed. That the high demand for 5 and 6-letter pronounceable names in the past years means that there is now a shortage of this inventory, so now is the time to invest in and sell these types of names. Submission TipsRejections: Having a name rejected can be frustrating but remember no first decision is final — you can appeal price or acceptance via the BrandBucket portal, and you can also post to the Slack channel to get feedback from your peers. The submission team takes feedback from the seller community into account when looking at appeals. Popular & Unpopular Names: Each month, we will bring you a couple of tips that we have noticed through our time as a marketplace, trends and sale patterns. - While the phrase “FinTech” has made Fin as an abbreviation for Financial more mainstream, we haven’t yet seen much buyer adoption for Fin as part of a compound company name. - Another unpopular abbreviation is "Fash". Though many can see if as a shorter version for “fashion”, we have not seen much buyer interest for names with “fash” as part of a keyword pair. - "Crypt" and "crypto" are not interchangeable. Currently, "crypto" is a hot word while "crypt" is not as trendy. Crypt leads people to think more about encryption rather than cryptocurrency. This Month's MediaI came across this video speaking about the significance of domains to entrepreneurs and business owners. As sellers of awesome domains, you are part of the story for someone trying to name their "unicorn". Enjoy this video, it had an ending I wasn't expecting... in a good way!
