APC Spring Clean: 2014 APC Signatory Health Check

Spring is upon us and we are halfway through the APC reporting period, so it’s a good time to check in and see how you are progressing with your APC-related activities

After the great response we had in 2013 to our Signatory Health Check we have renewed the short self-assessment tool for 2014.  It provides signatories with a simple means to identify opportunities to improve APC-related performance, and ultimately reporting each year, by looking at five key areas.

If using the Excel file (recommended), your results will be automatically generated, along with a list of resources you may find useful to address any issues identified after using the tool.  A pdf version of the tool is also available.

For further information regarding the Signatory Health Check please contact Georgia Carthey.

Annual Reporting system will open in September

Following signatory requests to allow more time to enter information into annual reports and document activities as they occur, we are pleased to announce that the annual reporting system will be open in late September.  Signatories will still have until 31 March 2015 to complete their reports and submit to the APC.  The assessment process will also begin in March as per previous years.

Sandra Broadfoot will be emailing your reporting link alongside a range of links to our reporting resources.  One of these being the revised Data Collection Template, which we recommend signatories utilise to collate and sense-check data prior to entering into the online reporting system.

Another great new feature in the online reporting system is the capability to format text in a similar fashion to Word.  Thanks to all the signatories who suggested improvements – we are always looking to improve our service offering.

Packaging Assessment Case Studies

green package

Well scoped packaging assessments can identify and lead to broader business benefits.

The APC recently completed a range of case studies that identified a range of different ways organisations are approaching their packaging assessment commitments and some of the business benefits associated with the results of these assessments.

Building on the great examples we discovered, we have also developed some guidance documents to assist signatories to develop their own assessment programs – ones that hopefully lead to more sustainable packaging solutions.

For more information about your packaging assessment process please contact Brett Giddings.

Latest Funding Round

The APC projects team are in the final phase of assessing the applications received via the 2014/15 funding round. We anticipate the successful applicants will be notified in the coming weeks.

Queensland’s South West Region Litter Prevention Campaign

This exciting project will fund three key aspects of the South West Region Litter Protection Campaign. It will characterise roadside litter collected as part of a strategic approach to litter auditing and clean-ups; explore community attitudes and actions around littering; and develop and test the effectiveness of evidence-based campaigns to drive positive behavioural changes in the disposal of rubbish at roadsides.
