Dear Parents & Friends,

And just like that Term 1 is over! Reflecting over the past few weeks, the College has certainly been abuzz with activity.

The Easter Services were well attended, and the feedback received was very positive.
Thank you to all who attended and made it a special event. We also had our Parent-Teacher Interviews and heard how our children are settling into their College routine.
Another highlight was the Ride2School day with a delicious breakfast supplied by Beedawong Cafeteria to all those who rode to College on their bikes. It was a wonderful turnout of staff, students and parents involved.

To end the term with a blast, the Year 7, 9 and 11 cohorts boarded the buses (and ferries) to enjoy, learn and build relationships at camp. I am sure there are many stories to tell, memories made and adventures embarked upon. The Year 10’s have been on Work Experience this last week too, so the College has been extremely quiet, but I am certain
the Year 8s, along with the Year 12s have loved having the campus to themselves.

Late last week a very special delivery was made to the College, to which I was very excited to go and check out. Full sized metal table tennis tables were installed in the Year 7 outdoor area and in the Year 8/9 quadrangle. These table-tennis tables are the result of the P&F’s fund-raising initiative which we work very hard for every year. This is so that we can bless the College in gifting such items. I would like to personally thank Martin Clifford (a College parent) who manufactured the tables and delivered them. I know the students will enjoy many years of playing against each other in friendly competition.
Thank you too to the members of the P&F for making this happen – they are pretty impressive!

As we wrap up to Term 1, there are just a couple of things I would like to remind parents about coming up in Term 2:

  • P&F General Meeting
Our next meeting is on 8 May at 6.15pm in the Staff Lounge. We have made this an earlier meeting than usual as we are going to have a guided tour through the new Food Technology and Textile Centre. We would love to see you there – lots to talk about and plan and the more the merrier!

  • Open Day Committee Meeting
At our next meeting we will also be forming our Open Day Committee. Preparations for Open Day begin in Term 2 so there are lots of opportunities to come and lend a hand. The dates for Open Day Committee Meetings will also be set. With your help the day can be a great success. The new time for Open Day of 11.00am - 3.00pm will allow us to plan for some new initiatives.

  • Mother's Day at Kennedy

This will be a fun filled morning on Thursday 9 May so please come and join other Kennedy Mums over a cuppa and some tempting treats at our annual Mother's Day morning tea. Aunties and grandmothers are also welcome! Remember to RSVP for catering purposes.

  • Volunteering at the College
As you have already read in previous newsletters, there are many ways to offer your support and be part of the College community. Term 2 is going to be another busy term especially in the Cafeteria. The winter months are very busy and Mrs Renee Anderson, the Cafeteria Manager, would love to have as many volunteers as possible to help during the term. You will also be receiving an email towards the end of the school holidays with the link from SIGNup.com so you can choose your days and times. Please consider if you would like to come in and volunteer and click here for current volunteer opportunities available.

So as Term 1 closes and the holidays begin, my prayer for all our students and their families, is that God’s precious hand will guide, protect and comfort you all. May you be able to take some time to reflect the true meaning of Easter and the sacrificial love that Jesus endured on the cross for you and me. And that He did not stop at death, He rose again so that we may have life and life eternal. That is truly an amazing gift that we cannot ignore.
