COVID-19 Update

Further COVID-19 restrictions have been announced by the Premier and Police Commissioner. These restrictions will come into effect from midnight (12:01 am) today, Tuesday, 29th June 2021. For a complete list of all of the changes please visit the Synod COVID-19 website page.

Synod Expos Update - Breaking News

We are thrilled to announce our main first keynote speaker for the expos being held from Sept-Nov this year. Rev Canon Dave Male is the Director of Evangelism and Discipleship for the Church of England. He is a trainer in pioneer ministries and an advisor on Fresh Expressions in England.

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life.

Prayer Points

This week we pray for:

  • For all states in Australia as they again come to terms with the on-going impacts of COVID-19
  • For all people seeking asylum in Australia who live in fear and uncertainty
  • For the Government’s review of the National Redress Scheme that it may lead to better support for survivors of abuse and improved access to the scheme.

 


Reflection of the week

Psalm 130 is also one of seven penitential psalms in the Bible and all express sorrow for sin and ask for God’s forgiveness for sin. Martin Luther called four of these the Pauline psalms because of their special focus on faith and forgiveness. Psalms 32, 51, 130 and 143 he said were his favourite psalms for, in his own words:

They teach us that the forgiveness of sins is granted without the law and without works.
