There is a lot happening in Greater Des Moines. Here is a sampling of our recent economic development successes:

MidAmerican Energy Company announced a $3.6 billion investment in renewable energy – the largest economic development project in the state’s history. The company plans to add up to 2,000 megawatts of wind generation in Iowa. 

Crossroads Cold Storage is proposing to construct a new cold storage facility in Des Moines. The project received assistance from the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA), and will represent a $16.8 million capital investment.

Edge Business Continuity Center (BCC)  Data Managed Services Cloud Technology company is proposing a new data center facility in Altoona. The project would result in a capital investment of $30 million, and received assistance from IEDA.

Excell Marketing is considering a warehouse expansion in Des Moines that would represent a $5.4 million capital investment and create 58 jobs. The company received assistance from IEDA.

Power Distributors is proposing to construct a new velocity distribution center in Ankeny that would represent a capital investment of $2.2 million and create 25 jobs. The company received assistance from IEDA.

Global DSM

The Greater Des Moines Partnership announced Global DSM, a comprehensive trade and investment plan that outlines specific steps local business, civic and government leaders can take to leverage exports and foreign direct investment to grow global engagement. This is an integral stage of The Partnership's participation in the Global Cities Initiative, a joint project of the Brookings Institution and JPMorgan Chase. Read the full plan here.

Greater Des Moines grew a total of 8.9 percent from 2010 to 2015, outpacing Midwestern metros including Madison, Omaha, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Chicago and St. Louis.
