We wanted to get in touch and help you get ready for your BFC Shadow Youth Team journey - with aspirational statistics from your chosen sector, information about the many opportunities available to you at College, and details of some preparations you can make for College life.   • 408 young people have completed the programme since its launch in 2015 
  • In 2018-19, 117 students studied on the programme 
  • 44.7% of 11-15 year olds play football at least once a month
  • Progression opportunities include university, employment, Apprenticeships, semi-professional and professional football
  • Careers in this sector have an average salary of between £20,000 and £50,000

 

There are many exciting roles and career opportunities within this sector. These include:

  • Sport Agents
  • Sports Development Officer
  • And more!

 

Before you start in September, you should try to: 

  • Read up on your course
  • Research your chosen subject
  • Look up the types of careers you may want to do
  • Find out more about the College’s designated Careers Zone - getting you ready for your future
  • Think about if you need any materials or equipment for your course - if you need more information let us know 
  • What kind of extracurricular activities might you be interested in at College - you can view our extracurricular guide online and sign up at enrolment

Think about any questions you might want to ask your tutor at your New Student Event.

 

As part of your study programme, you will be inspired by aspiration raising talks. Recent students have been inspired by former Shadow Youth Team players including Newcastle United and Liberia international professional Mo Sangare.

 

Harry Richardson achieved Triple Distinction* in the Burnley FC Shadow Youth Team and now studies Science of Sport Performance at Leeds Beckett University.
