Munyon “has demonstrated commitment to the Florida judicial branch that is both exceptional in its reach as well as exceptional in the amount of time she has devoted to branch improvements,” declared the judge who nominated her for the Chief Justice Award for Judicial Excellence. The Florida Supreme Court has named Allison “Ali” Sackett as its next state courts administrator. Sackett will serve as the eighth state courts administrator and lead nearly 200 employees in the Office of the State Courts Administrator. Sackett will begin September 1 and work for a transition period with current State Courts Administrator Lisa Kiel, who is departing. Pursuant to the Florida Supreme Court’s Administrative Order AOSC21-17, beginning on September 13, 2021, oral arguments will once again be conducted live at the courthouse, using the Zoom Video platform, or a hybrid of both methods. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Eighth Judicial Circuit was reminded of the importance of developing and maintaining solid relationships between the judiciary, court staff, lawyers, and court partners. Everyone pitched in, putting in long hours and hard work—the results of which are literally outstanding. Over the past 14 months, the Ninth Circuit conducted nearly 240,000 virtual hearings.
