Our late spring has finally arrived here in Eldersburg, and the coming week should be good for our Cape May Shootout, beginning on Monday, May 11. Immediately followed by a presentation to the Cape May Camera Club  on Compelling composition. Then the following weekend to Orlando on May 23 for our Creativity Seminar. Our next Creativity Seminar is later in the year in San Francisco. Please check the following links for more info.

May 23 - Orlando Camera Club

Nov 20-21 -  San Francisco

It's prime infrared time, sports fans! The image above was made with my D810 using the Singh Ray iRay infrared filter. The exposures are a bit longer than a normal exposure, composing the image first, then attaching the filter. In this case, 50 seconds.

The color infrared image below was made with an infrared converted camera with the Super Color conversion through LIfePixel.

I'm back in iPhone-land full swing these days. The quality of the camera and the inclusion of Image Stabilization (6Plus only) and camera apps, such as 645PRO create high quality images, suitable for publication and print. The following image was made with the 645PRO camera app, which can auto bracket by 2 stops (-2ev, 0ev, +2ev), compiled in Pro HDR X and sharpened in LR.

Check out the latest iPhone blog, which includes 3 videos.

GREAT BOOK by a Friend!

Our good friend and great photographer living on Cape Cod, Betty Wiley, has put out the definitive book on photographing on Cape Cod. Betty was instrumental in scouting locations for our Cape Cod DVD (in the works) and this book should be owned by every photographer, especially those considering coming to photograph on the Cape. Cape Cod! Get it HERE!

Life changing filter tip:

If you're like me and have crossed threaded filters, dropped filters while putting them on, and have thought filters were tightly screwed onto the lens, only to have the filter fall off of the lens when moving and repositoning the tripod, then here's your ultimate solution: Xume Adapters

There are two low profile magnetic rings: one on each filter that you use and one on each lens that you use with filters. The filter snaps onto the lens immediately, alleviating all of the above issues.

It's a good practice to remove the filter when repositioning the tripod, as a bumb could dislodge it. Given that small precautionary step, I have xume adapters on every lens and on every filter (NDs, polarizers, Hi-Lux, Soft-Ray, etal).
