Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Most of you attended the Special Synod meeting on Saturday 9 February and some of you weren't able. At that meeting there was a progress report on the work towards establishing a multi-Presbytery structure. I am contacting you with a summary of what was shared and the meeting and an update on this work.

Due to the commencement date of 1 July, 2019 for the newly created Non-Geographic Presbytery, an urgent but thorough consultation process is being implemented to obtain the views of Congregations, Faith Communities and Mission Networks on the shape of our future Presbytery structures.

The Standing Committee is committed to providing Uniting Church members, with regular updates on the results of these consultation processes.

This will enable you to be well equipped to participate in the discussions at the 21-22 June, 2019 Presbytery and Synod meeting.

Both Task Groups (that were established at the November 2018 meeting) have already held a number of meetings. These groups will be providing regular reports and, where necessary, possible proposals for the consideration of Standing Committee, with meetings to be held between now and the 21-22 June, 2019 meeting. The Standing Committee will ultimately determine what is taken as proposals to the next Presbytery and Synod meeting.

For your information, we have linked a copy of Circular 1 that has been distributed to Congregations, Faith Communities and Mission Networks. It contains useful background and progress information. This web page has been set-up for all information relating to the Presbytery restructure process.

If there are any issues covered in this update or the linked circular that raise questions for you, please feel free to contact me via gensec@sa.uca.org.au or 08 8236 4232

Grace and peace,

Rev Rob Brown
General Secretary
