I wish I would have known about Chosen...says a 26 year old mother of 3 who lives in a shady motel and is once again in danger of being unable to support her children. Last year she moved out on her own after a long term stay at a shelter. She wasn't ready. She quickly secured a job but couldn't find reliable childcare. With a desire to be self-sufficient but no support system, she ended up losing that job and eventually couldn't pay for rent, transportation or anything else. What would we have done if she had contacted us a year ago? We would have filled in the gaps and
paid for transportation and childcare for the first 3 weeks of her employment and let her take over after that. We would have helped her with a budget to ensure her readiness to take over those expenses. We would have taught her the necessary life skills to succeed. We would have mentored her. We would have encouraged her. We would have prayed with her.Some might argue that situations like this are plentiful and that they want to help but don't want to enable people with entitlement issues. We understand that, but that's not who we serve. In fact, not
everyone who comes to us is invited into the program because we are looking for individuals who are ready for change. We were able to help Guadalupe get a job at Starbucks 2 weeks ago. This is step one in her journey to finish her education and become financially stable. Pray for her to carefully manage classes, work and her baby! We were able to help Azaria secure a job at a hair salon. She started 3 days ago and is thrilled!
This is step one in her journey to complete high school and become accepted into a nursing program. Pray for her family to support her and not just try to take her money... She is the only one in a long line of people in her family that is employed.We were able to establish another employer partner and set up an interview for Ashley. Her first interview went well and she has a 2nd interview scheduled. This is step one in her journey to become financially stable and complete her G.E.D. Please pray for her as she strives to provide for her two daughters and develop her new
relationship with Jesus.
