CHINESE COURSE FOR AU RESEARCHERS

AU staff, including researchers and administrative staff, who are going to China or doing research related to China are offered a preparatory Chinese course in the spring semester 2014.

The participation in the course is free of charge for AU researchers, and in addition you will get a set of course books and CDs for attending this course.

Deadlines for signing up:
Deadline for Module 1: February 16, 2014
Deadline for Module 2: March 19, 2014
Deadline for Module 3: May 11, 2014

The course of spring semester 2014 is composed of three modules.

  • Module 1: is aimed at language beginners, who have little or no previous knowledge of Chinese language. In module 1, we will emphasize basic pronunciation exercises and practical language use: greeting and self-presentation.
  • Module 2: if you have basic knowledge of Chinese, around 10-hours Chinese learning, you are welcome to sign up for the module 2.
  • Module 3: is the continuation of module 2. It is mainly for participants who have learned Chinese for more than 20 hours. Oral competence is emphasized in M3 as well.The teaching plans and course descriptions of the three modules for spring semester 2014 will be announced shortly on www.ias.au.dk/goingabroad/chinesecourses/.

DANISH SEMESTER COURSES FOR AU STAFF BEGIN ON 16 FEBRUARY

You can now sign up for the semester courses for the spring semester. The courses are offered by the International Centre in cooperation with Lær Dansk and are targeted to all foreign PhD students and researchers in Aarhus University as well as their spouses.

You can expect:

  • 2 x 2 lessons per week late afternoon or early evening at Aarhus University
  • Modern materials
  • Experienced language teachers

Time and place

  • Dates: Courses start February 16, 2014
  • Time: 2 x 2 classes each week either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. Classes are taught in the late afternoon or early evening
  • Location: AU main campus. Exact rooms will be announced later

INTRODUCTION DAY FOR NEW EMPLOYEES AT AU

On the 4th of February new employees to Aarhus University can get knowledge and insights about the organisation and practical aspects of working at AU from the introduction day.

The programme begins at 9am and ends at 2pm.

Programme for the introduction day:

  • Welcome by the senior management
  • Introduction to AU
  • Liaison committee and union representatives at AU
  • Information from the International Centre where Alexander Walton from Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center will give a talk about his experiences of being a researcher at Aarhus University
  • Lunch and guided tour of the University Park
  • Practical AU information

FOLKEUNIVERSITETET IN ENGLISH - NEW PROGRAMME OUT NOW!

Visit Folkeuniversitetet (The Danish University Extension) in English in Herning or Aarhus and experience researchers explain the recent theories, methods and results within their scientific area.

The lectures are for everyone interested in gaining new knowledge and inspiration in an international context - and Folkeuniversitetet welcomes both internationals and Danes. All lectures are free and you can sign up for a single evening or multiple days.

UIC: Visit to Læssøesgade's School
Learn about the public school system foreign students are enrolled in when choosing the public school system. Highlights of the programme are: information about welcome class, profile of the pupils, duration of the basic instruction in Danish as a second language, transfer to a mainstream class, the after school club (Skole Fritids Ordning = SFO). You will visit an international welcome classes, learn about subjects, teaching and working methods and activities outside the school. Sign up required.
