Vermont's Economic Relief and Recovery

Governor Phil Scott, in conjunction with the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development and several other State agencies, has recently announced additional economic grant programs to help stimulate and stabilize Vermont's economy.

Micro Business Grant Program: The Vermont Community Action Partnership and the Micro Business Development Program have come together to establish the Economic Micro Business Recovery Assistance for the COVID-19 Epidemic (EMBRACE). The program is intended to support the smallest Vermont micro-businesses owned by an individual with a  "household" income at or under 80% of the State median. Review the Micro Business Grant Program application for full details.

Everyone Eats RFP: In response to COVID-19, restaurants, farmers, and community organizations have stepped forward to help feed our neighbors experiencing food insecurity. These programs have helped stabilize communities by nourishing Vermonters, alleviating the surging demand on food shelves, and providing economic support to restaurants. The State of Vermont has allocated $5 Million from the Coronavirus Relief Fund to a new program called Everyone Eats, which supports restaurants feeding Vermonters in need. Southeastern Vermont Community Action, the fiscal agent for the program, is requesting proposals from community organizations around the state to further these programs in the months ahead. #BuyLocalVermont Gift Cards

#BuyLocalVermont

#BuyLocalVermont is a program created by the State of Vermont that uses CARES Act funds to aid Vermont businesses and residents struggling in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The #BuyLocalVermont program promises to bring in the foot traffic needed to quickly increase sales for restaurants, retail stores, entertainment and performing arts venues, lodging, and tourism-related businesses.

On September 8, 2020, #BuyLocalVermont will begin incentivizing purchases by giving Vermont residents $30 Neighborhood Gift Cards – also known as "NIFTS" – on a first-come, first-served basis. When a resident activates their e-gift card, they'll be matched with local Vermont businesses where they can use their funds. It's a program that puts real money in the hands of residents and jumpstarts sales for the small businesses powering our communities.

Complete the Tourism and Hospitality Survey

The Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing is looking for businesses to quantify the impact of COVID-19 across the tourism industry, including lodging, retail, restaurants, and the arts. VDTM hopes businesses will take a moment to complete the brief survey to help them to better understand the economic loss and seasonal trends. The deadline to complete the survey has been extended to Friday, September 11.
