Dear ,
As we wrap up 2019 I wanted to acknowledge and thank those who have volunteered and shared their knowledge with ASUM in 2019, supporting our mission to promote ultrasound excellence. ASUM continues to strive to advance diagnostic ultrasound for the highest standards of patient care. This is a continual challenge in governance and I thank the ASUM Council, committees and staff for their dedication.
I am honoured to have returned from the British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS) annual conference in the United Kingdom where I was presenting on behalf of ASUM and continuing to build on the many years BMUS and ASUM have worked together. I am grateful to now be back in the warmth of Australia and prepare for the summer holidays.
I would like to wish you a safe and happy festive season. I look forward to celebrating 50 years of ASUM with you in 2020.
Assoc.Prof Fred Joshua
ASUM President

Critical Care Sonography
Physics of Ultrasound Lecture Series – Monthly Subscription
Having a good grasp of the physics of ultrasound improves image acquisition and image interpretation. This lecture series by Roger Gent is remarkable in it’s simplicity. It covers the physical properties of ultrasound, transducer and beamforming concepts, knobology, resolution and harmonics, image artifacts, common errors in sonography caused by inappropriate technical selections or choices, Doppler – basic physics, colour, artifacts and more, bioeffects and safety and finally MI/MT phantoms.
The lectures have been split into small sections accompanied by a brief summary and some multiple choice questions.
