Stat Of The WeekFrench Polynesia boasts the largest exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the Pacific, covering 4.8 million square kilometres. For comparison, Japan ranks among the top EEZ holders with approximately 4.5 square kilometres (source: Japan Fisheries Agency). More info In Papua New Guinea, the area harvested for banana production covers approximately 76,000 hectares, producing around 1.2 million tonnes of bananas. To put that in perspective, this area is roughly three times the size of Niue! More info Celebrating International Youth Day in August, did you know that the Pacific region has a youth population of 18%, compared to the global average of 16% (source: United Nations)?
