Join International Connections for coffee Oct. 8

International Connections will have our first coffee gathering from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8 at the Elizabeth room in the school (on the second floor above the preschool). All are welcome, including children.

Sacred Heart has a rich tradition of serving families from around the globe and the International Connections Committee serves to make these parents feel welcomed and to enable them to develop friendships. It is also a great opportunity for local families to increase their cultural understanding of other countries. Please feel free to drop by and we look forward to seeing you there.

Conferences are October 30-31

The first Parent-Teacher Conferences are being scheduled for October 30 and 31. Use the sign-up form enclosed in this month’s family envelope to indicate your availability.

This is a mandatory conference at which you can meet the homeroom teacher and receive your child’s first report card.

School Picture Day is October 22

Look for information and order forms to come home soon about School Picture Day which is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22nd.

Spiritual opportunity for mothers

Momnipotent is an opportunity for all moms to take a breath from the busyness of being a mom and to join together to rediscover and reconnect with your unique, beautiful, and powerful feminine gifts and to understand what it means to be called to motherhood—biologically and spiritually.

Learn how to become Momnipotent by using your feminine gifts in your home, family, and community. Momnipotent is being offered at Sacred Heart one Saturday a month for 8 months beginning Oct. 11 in the Bishop Winter Conference Center from 9 to 11 am; cost for materials is $15 for parishioners and $30 for non-parishioners.  Please preregister by Friday, October. 3 by contacting Sharon Smoller at 412-661-0187 ext. 108 or emailing sacredheartparishreled@gmail.com

Come watch a girls' volleyball game

The girls’ varsity (Team Black) volleyball team has been working hard this season and that hard work is paying off.  At the time of publication, the girls’ varsity black team had compiled a 4-2 diocesan section record. With continued practice and hard work, this Crusaders team could be playoff bound! The girls on the varsity team are an experienced and athletic bunch. They play hard, never give up, and have a team first attitude.

Support your Sacred Heart volleyball players by coming to one of the October home matches. The Varsity and JV teams play East Catholic (White) at home on Wednesday, October 8 and then play St. Bernadette (Blue) the following Wednesday, October 15. The JV matches begin at 6:30pm followed by the varsity match at 7:45pm.

Go Crusaders!

October food: Stuffing mix

In conjunction with Sacred Heart Parish, the school will collect stuffing mix to be contributed to the food bank run by the East End Cooperative Ministry.

Each month, the Student Council members encourage all of us to contribute a different featured food to share with our neighbors in need. Thank you for your support.
