Sid Shares #7SidShares

Hi All!

A very Happy New Year to you.

Here is my seventh monthly dose of “Sid Shares.” A list of what
I’m enjoying and exploring. December was cold and very dark,
but packed full of interesting experiences.

For me January is about gratitude and a thank you to 2019.
Thank you for the opportunities, the insights, the pitfalls, the
learnings and the reminder to keep going. Was 2019 easy?
Definitely Not. Was it memorable? Definitely Yes.

As we pass into a new year it’s very easy to get lost in the new.
To look forward to new opportunities and resolutions is good, but maybe we need to take a bit more time learning from what has gone before. Not in a ‘dwelling on the past’ kind of way. But more about
the ‘what am I learning’ kind of way. Historically I’ve been far too
quick to move on and ‘emotionally run away’ from things. But not now.
Now it’s all about what am I learning and how I can avoid making
the same mistakes again. Not that I don’t, but I am trying not to! Here’s what helps me keep my head in today, but my heart and mind on the gratitude for what has gone before.

I recently finished reading and listening to The Culture Code: The Secrets of Highly Successful Groups by Daniel Coyle. It reveals the secrets of some of the best teams in the world – from Pixar to Google to US Navy SEALs. It’s been a great guiding light in my journey to be a better human being and leader. It’s a great starter
for 2020…

I've recently been watching Bill's Brain on Netflix. Being an Apple guy I've always been a bit sceptical (wrongly) about Bill Gates and Microsoft. To say I've changed my views and opinions would be a HUGE understatement. If you get the chance do watch it. His vision, his drive, his ability to learn and to create a better world is immense. An amazing man doing amazing work with an amazing team.
Thank you Bill and Melinda Gates.

Someone I’ve just started following is Gary Zukav. I came across Gary while watching an interview he gave with Oprah Winfrey. In this interview Gary Zukav: The New Perception of Community talks to Oprah Winfrey about the soul and how fear affects what we do and the choices we make. Grab a cuppa it’s amazing.

I recently started a coaching course and came across the work of Marshall Rosenberg on Non-Violent Communication. It's had a profound affect on the way I think and communicate. The link above
is Part 1 of a three part series and I recommend watching them all.
I hope you too benefit from his teaching.

A quote that always inspires me…
"We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us
down new paths." Walt Disney

A poem I adore…
Enough by Catherine Pierce
