No images? Click here Hello from the BLBCABLBCA members are anxiously awaiting direction from the BC government and specifically the Public Health Office. An announcement is expected Tuesday at 1:00pm PDT. That order will likely provide direction and guidance for BLBCA member lodges as they look forward to the summer season. We will keep you up-to-date as we absorb the details. We recently completed our very well-attended Annual General Meeting. Although we sorely missed meeting everybody in person, we utilized 5 different online virtual sessions in order to meet with a number of BC government officials and other external presenters. A wide-ranging variety of topics were covered and I think we all left the meetings with a better understanding of current BC government priorities. Particular thanks to the presenters for taking time out of the their busy schedules in order to chat with our members. Don't forget to check out the latest edition of our Mountain Escapes booklet, the latest issue is packed with lots of tips on how to best plan your next backcountry adventure in a responsible fashion. Take good care. Sincerely, Brad Harrison Executive Director, Backcountry Lodges of BC Association The BLBCA Presents Our New Blog Series, "The Rewind" Introducing our new blog series, “The Rewind”, where we’ll be sharing some of our older, most-loved community content – because great stories deserve a second telling! To kick it off, we’ve combed through the archives to reshare the incredible story of the endangered whitebark pine, written by Tannis Dakin of Sorcerer Lodge. Check it out on the blog; we hope you enjoy! BC Trail Day is Around the Corner! The outdoors has proven to be an invaluable resource to British Columbians during the pandemic. To help give back to the trails and outdoor spaces that we love, the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC is launching BC Trails Day on Saturday, June 5, 2021. Part of the international celebration of Trails Day worldwide on June 5, BC Trails Day is dedicated to celebrating and caring for BC’s trail system, educating about responsible recreation, and helping more British Columbians enjoy trails and outdoor spaces. Outdoor groups and communities are encouraged to host local events, ranging from recreational opportunities, trail stewardship projects, or virtual events to honour and give back to the trails through celebrating the benefits they bring to us and our communities.
