Happy Spring Break! The time has come for our Spring Break! AEA students and staff will have a well-deserved rest for our minds and bodies for a week from Saturday, March 30 until Sunday, April 7. School resumes on Monday, April 8 with the first week of MAP testing. We wish everyone a happy Spring Break full of joy and positive experiences! Emotions from the annual Spelling BeeLast week, we announced the Spelling Bee winners. What we didn't share with those of you who were not present was that, it was a very emotional competition. Every single participant took the challenge very seriously. There were cries of happiness, and tears of disappointment. In certain occasions, our teachers had to ask the participants to spell words which the students hadn't learned because they had spelled every single word from the list correctly! The competition was that strong! Science FairWe have learned so much throughtout the Science Fair Week - How to make a homopolar motor from a battery?, Which food will mold first?, What happens when the air is heated?, Does the gravity affect the electricity?, Why do apples turn brown?, How do geysers explode?, Do the milk and detergent react?, What is going to happen if we put soda and vinegar together?, How to make it easier to peel the shelf of a boiled egg?, Can a needle show where North is?, What happens when gummy bears are put in different substances?, were just some of the projects presented by our students. In addition to describing data quantitatively, students began to use their observations to formulate scientific arguments and engage in scientific debate. Good job everyone! Women's History MonthOur Middle and High School students spent long hours in March preparing their TED Talks and presentations about Women's History Month. Oprah Winfrey, Amelia Earhart, Valentina Tereshkova, Agatha Christie, Michelle LaVaughn, and Greta Thunberg were some of the women (and a girl!) whose stories inspired our students. Map Test in AprilAs school resumes on April 8, students in K6 to Grade 11 will sit their Map Growth test according to a pre-scheduled test dates for each grade level. |
