We have been blessed to spend a wonderful summer learning about God our maker with the Schweitzer kids. In VBS children learned that they were built by God for a purpose. In Sunday classes, we spent time learning about creation and how God can create beautiful things out of nothing. We are looking forward to seeing new and old faces as we beginning new lessons this Fall. Last Sunday, August 13th, was Promotion Sunday! This means your child may have moved up to the next classroom. The Kids' Ministry has loving care for children from birth through toddler and programs for children 2's through sixth grade. We are
excited to share God's love with your children as we share Bible stories, enjoy snacks or meals, play, and create crafts on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings! This Sunday, August 20th will be our Carnival. Please come join us at 5pm for games, food, music, and fellowship! It will be a fun time for the whole family. We are always looking for people who feel called to serve in the kids' ministry. There are positions to help with all ages from birth through fifth grade. Grab a friend and sign up to help. Volunteers can choose to help once a month, every other week, or more! Contact Angela Smith
(asmith@schweitzerumc.org) for more information.
Children will be returning to our normal classrooms for fall classes Aug. 13th. Check at the Kids' Connection Desk (where you sign your children in) if you need help determining your child's classroom.
New Faces in the Kids' Ministry Team
You might notice some new faces in the Kids' Ministry this Fall. Angela Smith will be serving as Interim Director of Kids' Ministry.
Krista Rosenbaum looks forward to serving Schweitzer's children as an Interim Assistant Director of Kids' Ministry.
Nina Verbanaz is excited to join the Kids' Ministry team in sharing God's love with your children as an Interim Assistant Director.

Prayer Requests
Every Sunday morning we gather before classes to pray for our teachers and children. We pray that God would grant them knowledge, patience and joy on their Sunday morning and through the week. We would love your prayers for: -the Holy Spirit to call volunteers to share God's love with Schweitzer's youngest members on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. -our teachers and leaders to speak
love and God's truth to our kids every Sunday and Wednesday. -our kids to have open hearts and minds to the love that God has for them and to make them models of God's love to others.

Kids' Club is starting up again Wednesday Aug. 30th
We are excited to begin Kids' Club on Wednesday nights again on August 30th. Kids' Club meets on Wednesdays from 6-8pm August 30th through November 15th. We have classes for pre-K through sixth grade. Kids enjoy time on the playground, games, dinner, and a lesson about God's love and plans for us. We also have childcare for children from birth, so bring your children to have fun and to learn about our faith and come volunteer to join in the fun.

Home Front
is a spiritual parenting magazine that Schweitzer Kids Ministry provides to help parents guide their kids into a relationship with Jesus Christ. It has fun, creative and faith-filled articles and activities for kids and parents! This month's magazine is all about modeling and imitating a life in Christ. As you peruse the magazine this month, you'll find a focus on modeling a "compelling and authentic faith," matching your words to your actions. This issue includes discussion points, a song, a game, and a craft that help you teach your children how to lead and how to choose whom to follow, important topics as we begin a new school year. 1 Timothy 4:12: Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity show yourself an example of
those who believe.

A Prayer for our Kids Leaders & Volunteers: God of Love, Thank you for every leader & volunteer who notices a child’s special gift. Thank you for those who are listeners and gentle guides. Thank you for leaders & volunteers who expect much and love enough to demand more. Thank you for the special leader each one of us remembers. God of Strength, Encourage them to care and inspire them to nourish. Motivate them to keep on learning for the fun of it and to make learning fun for children. We pray these things in the name of our great leader and savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
