Message from Ann Keeling, CEO, IDF

We've come a long way but we're not done yet!

This quarter marked the one year anniversary of the UN High-Level Summit on NCDs. I have been reflecting on this anniversary and asking myself, what progress has been made? Where do we stand in terms of IDF’s mission of promoting diabetes care, prevention and a cure worldwide?

In September 2011 we made a global breakthrough for diabetes. A true watershed occurred within the world’s guiding authority, the United Nations (UN). Read more

Professor Azad Khan is a leading light in the world of NCDs. Brazilian NASCAR racer, Miguel Paludo is one of IDF’s newest Blue Circle Champions. He talks to us about the practicalities of racing with diabetes and his hopes for his son Oliver, who was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

Tell us about your experience with diabetes, how has your attitude changed toward the disease?
For me, taking care of my diabetes every day is normal. It’s like brushing your teeth and eating: every day I have to check my blood sugar. When I realized I had diabetes, it was overwhelming but the most intimidating fact was that it’s something you have for the rest of your life. Read more
