It is safe to say, “It is officially Fall.” We have learned all about leaves, trees, and nuts. The leaves are changing and falling. November is American Indian Heritage Month. For the next two weeks, we will be learning all about Native Americans. Each class learns about different tribal regions, what they wore, what they ate, and how they lived.

Next Week

Unit Study: We will learn about Native American tribes.
Show and Tell: Complete the “My Name is Special” worksheet
Bible: We will continue learning about the Life of Moses.
Bible Verse: Psalm 100:3, “Know that the Lord, He is God; it is He that has made us, and not we ourselves. We are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.”
Reading: We will learn the digraphs sh (shell) and th (mother) and continue to practice reading stories from our classroom readers.
Sight Words: not, too, stop
Comprehensive list for this 9 weeks: put, her, he, she, to, help, can
Math: We will continue practicing Adding 1, introduce the 60s family (60, 61, 62…), counting from 1 to 79, understanding “after” numbers (2 is after 1), and reviewing previously learned concepts (number families, left and right, penny value, number recognition, and number writing).

Important Dates

November 7-14 - Book Fair - Open from 7:45-4:00. Parents are welcome to shop before and after school. 7:45-8:15 and 3:00-4:00
November 14 - Christmas in November; Wear a Christmas sweater, t-shirt, or sweater! And Bring $1, $2, or $3 dollars to support Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes.
November 21-25 - NO SCHOOL, Thanksgiving Break
December 16 - Christmas parties and early dismissal. No extended care.
December 17-January 3 - NO SCHOOL, Christmas break

Reminders

Be prepared to say your Bible verse independently every Friday to your teacher.
ALWAYS bring a jacket, filled water bottle, folders, backpacks, and extra change of clothes in your child’s backpack (or left at school).
