The difference, of course, is that most other tech vendors aren’t in the firing line of Donald Trump. For Huawei, the launch is more than just a new ban-busting AI-ready chip: It’s a sign of their battle to survive by increasing self-sufficiency in the face of Trump's brinksmanship. The big question is whether Huawei is big enough to be successful based on proprietary technology, which appears to be their only feasible modus operandi to 'live and not die' under the sword of the US onslaught.
