It’s Lights On for Vivid Sydney!

Tonight, Vivid Sydney flicks the on-switch for 23 technicolour days and nights of Light, Music, Ideas & Food, transforming Sydney’s streets, parks and buildings into a dreamlike wonderland with large-scale projections, interactive installations and cutting-edge digital art that push creative and technological boundaries. It is Sydney at its boldest, brightest best. So, now’s the time to map out your ultimate hitlist of experiences across the festival’s five vibrant zones.

In Circular Quay and The Rocks, the city’s icons bask in their surreal glow-up, as the Sydney Opera House is transformed by Lighting of the Sails: Kiss of Light by David McDiarmid, Vincent Namatjira’s King Dingo reclaims history on the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, and the whole zone buzzes with colourful installations, dining experiences, and the genre-bending rhythms of Vivid LIVE at the Sydney Opera House.

This year, the Vivid Sydney program is more interactive than ever, with creative works that invite you to describe a dream, to sculptures that react to your movements, and surreal spaces that shift your perspective as you’ll come to see in our hands-on guide to the festival.

Returning to Vivid Sydney for another year? Then transform your festival experience by taking on the spectacular light displays from all sorts of different angles, whether you’re climbing to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge or cruising the harbour. Check out the many ways you can enjoy a new perspective on Sydney’s annual festival of light, music, ideas and food.

Plus, don’t miss out on Vivid Sydney’s stellar program, where electric discussions and unforgettable inspiration flow with In Conversation with Martha Stewart (28 May), and retro fun is to be had with Neon Dreams (23 May – 14 June).

Enjoy – and happy Vivid Sydney, everyone!
