Message from our Chairman
On behalf of the Partners and staff at Henderson Loggie, may I take this opportunity to thank our clients and friends of the firm for their support over the past year and wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
As we look to the year ahead, we do so with some uncertainty, with most economic commentators predicting another challenging year. We are committed to supporting our clients over the coming year and beyond at home and abroad, as many of our clients look for opportunities further afield to support their plans and developments.
Most people are back to work this week and possibly contemplating New Year resolutions for the year ahead. Our January Insight covers some areas which may require attention in the coming months, which we hope you will find helpful.
Should you have any queries on the topics covered in our e-newsletter below, please contact us using the details provided.

Tax Saving Resolutions
For 2012, we can help you Resolve to minimise the cost and worry of tax by -
- Maximising R&D tax credits and the tax you can reclaim (yes get back) from HMRC.
- Maximising Capital Allowances – the annual allowance is £100,000 but reduces to £25,000 per annum from April 2012.
- Making full use of tax efficient pension savings, which could mean a 63% tax saving.
- Undertaking our ‘VAT Healthcheck’ – the majority of our clients benefit from absolute or VAT cashflow savings as a result – and reduce the risk of penalties.
- Reviewing & challenging VAT assessments or rulings from HMRC – almost 2/3rds of penalties raised last year were waived after taxpayer appeals.
- Obtaining Tax Fee Protection insurance, which can cover the additional professional fees in dealing with the increasing number of HMRC Tax Enquiries. The annual cover can be for companies, businesses or individuals and provided at a cost that is not prohibitive.
There are more ways to minimise and mitigate tax – we can help with either your business or personal tax affairs. If you’d like to discuss how you can benefit from Tax Saving Resolutions, get in touch with your usual Henderson Loggie contact or enquiries@hendersonloggie.co.uk
