Message from the CEO

Hello good people,

I hope this finds you all well and in good spirits.

What a month full of highs and lows. We successfully cut over to our new client management system that will provide our Personal Care workers with greater access to information and provide Everglow a fantastic platform to provide our team with a single system.

I would like to thank those staff who provided feedback during the user trials and to our incredible staff who have been patient during the cut over. Special mention must go to Vincent Stukart from our finance team on championing the project through to successful completion.

Our success certainly validates the effort and commitment by the management committee and executive team towards investment in new technologies within the business.

Our new Ingham office fit out is complete and we are already seeing an increase of new clients visiting the office and we are being contacted by past clients – welcome back to the Everglow family.

On a much sadder note, it is with great sadness that I inform you that Bryan Hutchinson our team leader in Home Maintenance passed away on the 25th of June. He will greatly missed by both our Everglow team and clients who we know will miss his cheeky grin. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his partner Petier and children Sammy-Jo, Edmund, Katrina, Thomas, Chloe, Charlotte, and Christian.

In the next couple of weeks, you will be receiving your membership renewal forms and nomination forms for the upcoming AGM to be held at the Mercure Townsville over lunch. Be sure to have your membership forms back by the 31 August 2020.

As always, I welcome any feedback from you in relation to your services or any opportunities improvement.

Until next month, stay safe.

Wayne

Keep moving, breathing and having fun

The benefits of Sound Therapy

It's so wonderful to see everyone back in our Gentle Exercise classes, plus more new participants too! We have had a lovely time moving, breathing, and smiling together!

Tracey introduced a little bit of sound therapy to the classes by bringing her Tibetan Singing bowl. At the end of class, she asked everyone to close their eyes and listen deeply to the resonant sound of the bowl and see if they could feel the sound in their body. Participants found this technique so calming and relaxing at the end of class!

This type sound therapy is effective in not only achieving a state of relaxation but it also has a way of clearing blockages in the body and sometimes relieving pain. Sound therapy has been known to help treat such conditions as stress, anxiety, high blood pressure, depression, sleep disorders, pain and autism.

Most of all, it is a pleasant, calming, relaxing way to feel centered and steady within yourself.

Please join us for Gentle Exercise on Monday 9:30 am and Friday 9:30 am and 11:00 am along with morning tea afterward.

Wellness Corner

Welcome back to Gentle Exercise and Colouring Therapy. It has been great to re-connect, move our bodies, exercise our minds and enjoy a cuppa together. Staying healthy, feeling your best and socialising is important at any age.

While the Government continues to monitor and advise on COVID-19 (corona virus)- its been great to hear that Queensland remains safe- it is still very important to stay mindful and continue to protect yourself.

Ongoing reminders from COVIDSafeAustralia encourage all Australians to:

  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow disposing of used tissues into a rubbish bin
  • Frequently wash your hands with soap and water, including before and after eating, using the bathroom, going into the community.
  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitiser where available
  • clean and disinfect surfaces
  • Stay 1.5 metres away from each others.

There are also things we can do help ourselves such as:

  1. Learning to cope with change
  2. Find meaning and Joy
  3. Stay connected
  4. Get Active and boost vitality

Over the 4 weeks of July I will be focusing on these topics, 1 each week, offering information and ideas to live your best life.

These flyers will be available at all activities and events to assist and support valued clients.

Value Me, as I Value You

Take Care,

Tanya -Everglow Wellness Coordinator
