The summer weather is finally here and I am taking advantage of it every chance that I can. This summer I have had the opportunity to explore downtown Grand Rapids; I attended an arts festival, and participated in my first ever 5k run! I’ve had a blast driving around downtown Detroit checking out local farmers markets like Wayne State’s market and Lathrup Village’s market. I also had the awesome opportunity to attend the final night of the Miss Michigan Pageant and witnessed history being made as they crowned the 2015 Miss Michigan.

One of my biggest tips for this summer is to shop local or shop online. Those might sound like polar opposites, but you can end up saving more money if you take advantage of the online deals and local markets in your area. So far my favorite thing I’ve done this summer was a Segway tour in downtown Grand Rapids. Segway tours can be pricey, but I searched for a Groupon and ended up only paying ½ of the regular price. See, I shopped online and I shopped local! This summer don’t be a couch potato and don’t get so caught up in your summer job that you don’t make any time for fun. Get out and explore your city Young & Free. There are great deals all around us; sometimes it just takes a little digging. Don’t forget to stop and snap a selfie with my car when you spot it.
